The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will invest 500 billion won this year to foster the digital-based K-culture industry.

The ministry announced on the 9th that it held the '2024 Cultural Digital Innovation Council' chaired by First Vice Minister Jeon Byung-guk and finalized the '2024 Cultural Digital Innovation Implementation Plan' to foster the digital-based cultural industry, cultural enjoyment, and administrative innovation. This is a yearly action plan for the 'Basic Plan for Cultural Digital Innovation 2025' (2023~2025).

This year's implementation plan will invest 519.7 billion won ($410.7 million) in 98 projects.

To help the K-culture industry secure competitiveness, we will foster creative talents and companies that converge culture and technology, and expand the opening of cultural resources to support the private sector creative ecosystem.

It also supports the development of leading technologies in key areas such as super-scale artificial intelligence (AI) and digital platforms.

Major projects include operating a new technology content convergence academy, supporting AI content production, supporting content production specialized in online video services (OTT), establishing a library knowledge information resource sharing infrastructure, and building a Korean language corpus.

문화체육관광부가 올해 5천억원을 투입해 디지털 기반의 K-컬처 산업을 육성한다.

문체부는 5월 9일 전병극 제1차관 주재로 '2024년 문화 디지털혁신 협의회'를 열고 디지털 기반 문화산업 육성과 문화 향유, 행정혁신을 위한 '2024년 문화 디지털혁신 시행계획'을 확정했다고 밝혔다.  

'문화 디지털혁신 기본계획 2025'(2023~2025년)는 연도별로 추진된다.

2024년 시행계획에서는 총 98개 과제에 5천197억원을 투입한다. K-컬처 산업이 경쟁력을 확보하도록 문화와 기술 분야 융복합 창의인재와 기업을 육성하고, 민간 분야 창작 생태계를 지원하기 위해 문화자원의 개방을 확대한다. 초거대 인공지능(AI), 디지털 플랫폼 등 핵심 분야 선도기술 개발도 지원한다.

주요 사업으로는 신기술콘텐츠 융복합 아카데미 운영, AI 콘텐츠 제작 지원, 온라인동영상서비스(OTT) 특화 콘텐츠 제작 지원, 도서관 지식정보자원 구축, 한국어 말뭉치 구축 등을 추진한다.
