Warner Bros. Celebrates 100 Years of Storytelling at Dongdaemun Design Plaza

Warner Bros., the iconic film and television studio, is commemorating its 100th anniversary with a special exhibition titled "Warner Bros. 100th Activation: CELEBRATING EVERY STORY,” marking its first large-scale collaboration with South Korea.This immersive experience, held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul from November 18, 2023, to March 31, 2024, takes visitors on a captivating journey through the iconic studio's rich history and beloved franchises.

Founded in 1923 by the Warner brothers – Harry, Albert, Sam, and Jack – Warner Bros. has since become a global leader in entertainment, producing some of the most beloved and influential films and television shows of all time. From the timeless classics of the Golden Age of Hollywood to the cutting-edge blockbusters of today, Warner Bros. has consistently pushed the boundaries of storytelling, captivating audiences worldwide.

The Warner Bros. Activation exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the studio's incredible history, highlighting its most iconic films and characters. Visitors can marvel at a collection of replica costumes, including Hogwarts House robes from the "Harry Potter" series, Jon Snow's cloak from "Game of Thrones," and Willy Wonka's colorful attire from the 1971 film "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."

For comic book enthusiasts, the exhibition displays an array of exclusive DC Comics figurines, including Wonder Woman, the Joker, Harley Quinn, Superman, and many more.

The exhibition also features a variety of interactive experiences, allowing visitors to step into the worlds of their favorite Warner Bros. productions. Visitors can sit on the iconic Central Perk couch from "Friends," push a trolley through the barrier to Platform Nine-and-Three-Quarters in "Harry Potter," and even try on the Sorting Hat.

Additionally, there is a dedicated Animation Zone, where visitors can immerse themselves in the world of Looney Tunes and Tom and Jerry.

To showcase the intricate filmmaking process, the exhibition features storyboards, special effects, and materials that reveal the magic behind creating captivating films and television shows. Visitors can gain a deeper appreciation for the artistry and technical prowess that bring these stories to life.

The exhibition's artistic flair is further accentuated by media art installations inspired by the "Matrix" franchise and the upcoming "Wonka" film starring Timothée Chalamet, set to release in January 2024.

A unique highlight includes the introduction of "100th Anniversary mashup characters," a series of whimsical creations that blend iconic figures from Looney Tunes and DC Comics. These playful mashups evoke a sense of nostalgia and celebrate the enduring appeal of these beloved characters. Additionally there is a lucky draw event where participants can win 1 out of 24 special premium goods, as well as an art shop where the Anniversary mash-up characters, limited goods, and other Warner Bros. products are available for purchase.

The exhibition begins with a replica of the Warner Bros. Water Tower, an iconic symbol of the studio that has stood proudly at its Burbank, California, headquarters since 1927. The tower has been recently repainted with a new logo commemorating the studio's 100th anniversary.
