Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger said he was not considering selling traditional TV channels such as ABC and Fox. In an interview with CNBC in July 2023, he turned to the position that he was thinking of selling real-time TV channels, saying they were not Disney's long-term essential to the company. Bob Iger's response came at the New York Times DealBook Summit held by The New York Times on November 30, 2023.

CEO Bob Iger left the company in 2020 after serving as Disney CEO for 15 years from 2005 to 2020, but returned in November 2022. This is because shareholders and the board of directors protested greatly due to poor management of Bob Chapek, Iger's successor, and a fall in stock prices.

"My thoughts at the time were to show the process of thinking in public," Iger said at the DealBook Summit. "I didn't want to be criticized for being the management of Old Media and I didn't think I was selling the media itself." (I did not want to be accused of being an old media executive,” and not open to selling legacy media assets).

Iger's words are somewhat ambiguous, but to put it back together, "I was saying that Old Media may not be a key asset in the future," but it can be summarized to the extent that "I'm not thinking about selling it yet."
