Lecture & Panel Discussion: Navigating Korea’s Esport and Gaming Horizon

The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in LA (Consul General Kim Youngwan) announced that in commemoration of the 120th anniversary of Korean immigration to the Americas and the 70th anniversary of the ROK-US alliance, they will jointly organize the “Korea Friendship Festival Series” with LA City College (President Mary Gallagher) this year.

As the third event in the series, a seminar exploring esports and gaming in Korea will be held on  1pm 5th Dec, 2023 in a hybrid format.

The event will feature a lecture by Professor Dal Young Jin, a leading figure in the study of Hallyu and new media (Simon Fraser University), titled "Esports/Gaming, Why Korea?" Following the lecture, a panel discussion with Simon Sim (CEO of Kabam/Netmarble US), Martin Kim (CRO of Gen.G), and Mark Deppe (Director of UCI Esports Program) will take place.
