로스앤젤레스 총영사관(총영사 김영완)은 한-미 FTA 발효 12주년을 맞이하여 오는 3월 7일 09:00-14:00, 풀러튼 커뮤니티센터에서 ‘한-미 FTA발효 12주년 기념 특별 컨퍼런스를 개최한다.

이번 특별 컨퍼런스는 한미 FTA발효 12년간의 성과를 점검하고, 한미 FTA의 성공사례를 전파하기 위해 한미관세무역연구포럼(KACTS) 등 한인무역유관단체와 미 중소기업청(SBA) 등 미국의 유관기관이 연합하여 “성공적인 한-미 FTA의 12년과 공급망의 지정학적 변화(Successful Free Trade Agreement between the U.S. and Korea : Geographical shift in supply chains)”를 주제로 열릴 예정이다.

이번 컨퍼런스에는 한-미 FTA 이행을 관장하는 한-미 양국의 고위 정부인사를 비롯하여 한-미 양국의 주요 기업 관계자 등 300여명이 대거 참석한다.

‌‌발표는 미 무역대표부(Office of the U.S. Trade Representative)에서 특별 영사(Special Counsel)로 근무하고 있는 Victor D. Ban께서 주요 연사로 참여한다.  채봉규 관세영사 등 각 분야의 전문가가 한-미 FTA진단, AI와 물류산업의 변화 등 다양한 주제에 대한 발표가 있을 예정입니다.

‌‌ 또 “한미 FTA와 공급망의 지정학적 변화”라는 주제가 다루어질 패널 토론 세션에서는 미국의 FTA 민간전문가인 김진정 변호사의 진행으로 다양한 분야 전문가의 토론이 이루어질 전망이다.

‌‌LA총영사관 김영완 총영사는 “이 행사는 한-미 FTA를 통해 구축된 한-미 경제관계를 공고히 하고, 공급망의 변화 속에서도 한-미 양국의 무역신장과 경제동맹 강화를 도모하기 위한 행사”라며 “한-미 양국 정부와 경제단체가 파트너가 되어 공동으로 개최하는 행사인 만큼 한-미 양국의 주요 기업인이 서로 교류하는 장이 될 수 있을 것”이라고 기대했다.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Los Angeles (Consul General Young Wan Kim) is hosting a special conference to commemorate the 12th anniversary of the Korea-U.S. FTA on March 7, 2019, from 09:00-14:00 at the Fullerton Community Center.

This special conference will be held under the theme of "Successful Free Trade Agreement between the U.S. and Korea : Geographical shift in supply chains" by Korean trade organizations such as the Korea-America Customs and Trade Study Forum (KACTS) and U.S. related organizations such as the U.S.

Small Business Administration (SBA) to review the achievements of the 12 years of the Korea-U.S. FTA and disseminate the success stories of the Korea-U.S. FTA.

The conference will be attended by more than 300 participants, including senior government officials from both countries who oversee the implementation of the Korea-U.S. FTA, as well as key business leaders from both countries.

Mr. Victor D. Ban, Special Counsel at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, will be the keynote speaker.  Experts from various fields, including Customs Consul Bongkyu Chae, will present on various topics such as diagnosis of the Korea-US FTA and changes in AI and logistics industry.

In addition, a panel discussion session titled "The Korea-US FTA and Geopolitical Changes in the Supply Chain" will be moderated by Attorney Jinjung Kim, a private lawyer specializing in FTAs in the United States.

"This event aims to consolidate the economic relationship between Korea and the U.S. built through the Korea-U.S. FTA and to promote trade expansion and economic alliance between Korea and the U.S. amidst changes in supply chains," said Consul General Young Wan Kim of the Consulate General of Korea in Los Angeles.

"As the event is jointly organized by the governments and business organizations of Korea and the U.S., it will be a place for leading business people from both countries to interact with each other."
