오는 6월 11일 AI와 K콘텐츠 시대, 한국과 아세안 국가의 새로운 교류 플랫폼을 모색하는 국회 엔터테크포럼  글로벌 세미나가 열린다. 이번 행사는 한-ASEAN 간 엔터테인먼트 테크놀로지 분야 협력과 교류를 촉진하기 위해 마련됐다. 세미나는 (사)국회엔터테크포럼[준]이 주최하고 엔터테인먼트 테크놀로지 전문 미디어&랩 다이렉트미디어랩이 주관한다.

현장은 한국과 아시아의 엔터테인먼트 테크놀로지 산업을 분석하고 교류의 미래를 제시하는 의미있는 자리가 될 전망이다. 엔터테크라는 주제로 한국 국회에서 열리는 첫 행사이다 보니  한국과 아시아(ASEAN) 국가에서 많은 주요 인사들의 참석이 예정되어 있다.

여러 아시아 국가에서도 행사에 많은 관심을 표시하고 있다. 이와 관련 현 말레이시아 이포 티모르(Ipoh Timor) 지역구 국회의원 하워드 리 의원(Howard Lee 李存孝)이 영상 축사(Video)를 보내왔다.

하워드 리 의원은 말레이시아 외교정책 자문위원회(Malaysian Foreign Policy Consultative Council Member), 국가직업교육훈련위원회(Malaysian National Council for TVET) 위원을 맡고 있으며  중요 광물 위원회 의장(Malaysian Parliamentary Caucus for Critical Minerals)이기도 하다.

리 의원은 평소 말레이사와 한국 간 협력에 많은 관심을 보이며 고삼석 국회엔터테크포럼 상임대표(동국대 AI융합대학 석좌교수·전 방통위 상임위원) 지속적으로 교류하고 있다.

리 의원 "포럼 행사 시의 적절, 전폭 지지"

먼저 리 의원은 축사에서  “'국회엔터테크포럼'(이하 포럼)의 출범과 첫 세미나의 성공적인 개최를 진심으로 축하한다”며 “특히 현재의 지정학적 상황을 고려할 때, 이 행사는 시의적절하다”고 말했다.

그는 “포럼의 설립은 특히 인공지능 시대의 맥락에서 한국과 아세안(ASEAN) 간의 교류와 협력을 촉진하는 데 있어 중요한 이정표가 될 것”이라며 “이러한 이니셔티브의 잠재적 외교적 이익은 엄청나다. 기술과 문화가 점점 더 중추적인 역할을 하는 현재 지정학적 환경에서 이 포럼과 같은 이니셔티브는 상호 이해, 경제 협력, 문화 교류를 촉진하는 가교 역할을 할 수 있다”고 강조했다.

그는 생성AI가 모든 산업에 영향을 미치고 있는 만큼 영향을 분석하고 진단하는 자리가 꼭 필요하다고 설명했다.

특히, AI 분야 경제 발전을 위해 한국과 아세안 국가의 협업이 중요하다고 언급했다.

리 의원은 “AI 시대는 도전과 기회를 동시에 제시한다. 이 포럼은 엔터테인먼트와 기술에 초점을 맞춤으로써 활기차고 역동적인 산업을 활용할 뿐만 아니라 AI가 사회에 미치는 광범위한 영향에 대해서도 다룬다”며 “AI 분야의 성장은 경제 발전을 견인하고, 고부가가치 일자리를 창출하며, 혁신을 촉진할 수 있다. 또 엔터테인먼트 테크놀로지를 통한 문화 교류의 강조는 상호 이해와 협력을 증진하여 보다 조화롭고 상호 연결된 지역을 조성할 수 있다”고 설명했다.

한국과 아세안 엔터테크 협력 시너지 엄청나

리 의원은 특히, 말레이시아가 2025년 아세안 서밋 의장국으로 ‘엔터테인먼트 테크놀로지’ 분야 지속적인 협력을 강조했다. 리 의원은 “말레이시아는 고부가가치 기술 투자와 일자리 창출에 모든 정책의 우선 순위를 두고 있다”며 “ AI 엔터테인먼먼트 테크놀로지에 초점을 맞춘 이번 이벤트는 말레이시아의 국가 전략과 맞물려 협업과 동반 성장의 기회를 제공할 것’이라고 말했다.

이어 그는 “개인적으로 AI와 엔터테인먼트 기술의 융합은 엄청난 가능성을 가지고 있다. 또 이 분야에서 도출될 다양한 협업과 혁신을 보고 싶다”며 “이 포럼을 전폭적으로 지지하며 참여할 것이다.  우리가 함께 노력한다면 이 포럼이 목표를 달성할 뿐만 아니라 향후 협업을 위한 벤치마크를 제시할 수 있을 것”이라고 덧붙였다. 또  리 의원은 “말레이시아 대표로서 포럼의 성공에 기여하고 포럼이 우리 지역에 미칠 긍정적인 영향을 목격할 수 있기를 기대한다”고 강조했다.

말레이시아, 다양성이 가장 큰 전략적 무기

말레이시아의 강점은 다양성에 있다. 중국, 인도, 유럽의 영향을 받았고 다문화 다인종 국가로 잘 알려져있다.  리 의원은 “말레이시아는 이런 강점을 단순한 강점이 아닌 전략적 자산으로 활용할 수 있도록 노력 중”이라며 “이런 다양성을 활용해 특히 테크놀로지와 및 문화 교류 분야에서 역내 통합과 협력을 증진할 것”이라고 설명했다.

그는 “이 포럼의 목표는 각 회원국이 공동의 발전에 기여하고 가치를 만드는 진보적인 아세안이라는 우리의 비전과도 일치한다”고 강조했다.

한편,  11일 국회엔터테크포럼은 고삼석  상임대표의 인사말과 여야 국회의원들의 축사로 시작된다. 1부는 2024 아세안 서밋(ASEAN Summit) 의장국인 라오스의 쏭깐 루앙무닌턴(Songkane LUANGMUNINTHONE) 주한 대사가 "동남아시아와 새로운 한류"라는 주제로 기조 연설에 나선다.

이어 인도네시아 소설가이자 콘텐츠 전문가인 소니 카르소노(Sony Karsono) 한국외대 말레이-인도네시아어 통번역학과 교수(인도네시아 '올해의 문학상' 수상자)가 ‘한국과 아세안 상호 문화 교류’라는 주제의 기조 연설을 전한다.

2부 고삼석 국회엔터테크포럼 상임대표가 ‘신한류, 한-ASEAN 교류 협력 패러다임 대전환’이라는 주제로 기조연설을 진행한다.

이어 한정훈 다이렉트미디어랩 대표가 ‘AI시대, 한-ASEAN 엔터테크 교류 협력의 미래’라는 주제로 발표를 맡는다. 종합토론 세션에서는 정길화 전 KOFICE 원장이 사회를 맡고, 송진 한국콘텐츠진흥원(KOCCA) 콘텐츠산업정책연구센터장, 정윤길 동국대 교수 및 한류중심대학 추진단장, 조성우 CJ ENM 글로벌사업본부장, 박근희 KOCOWA+ 대표가 참여해 ‘한류의 새로운 패러다임과 AI시대 변화하는 콘텐츠 교류 협력’에 대해 이야기를 나눈다.

On 11th June, the National Assembly Entertainment Technology Forum will explore new exchange platforms between Korea and ASEAN countries in the era of AI and K-culture.

The event is designed to promote cooperation and exchanges in the field of entertainment technology between ASEAN and Korea. The seminar is organized by the National Assembly Entertainment Technology Forum and hosted by DirectMediaLab, a media & lab specializing in entertainment technology.

The event is expected to analyze the entertainment technology industry in Korea and Asia and present the future of exchanges. As this is the first event to be held at the Korean National Assembly on the topic of entertainment technology, many key figures from Korea and ASEAN countries are expected to attend.

Several Asian countries have also expressed interest in the event. In this regard, the current Member of Parliament for Ipoh Timor, Malaysia, Mr. Howard Lee 李存孝, sent a video congratulatory message.

Howard Lee is a member of the Malaysian Foreign Policy Consultative Council, the Malaysian National Council for TVET, and is also the Chairman of the Malaysian Parliamentary Caucus for Critical Minerals.

Lee has always shown a keen interest in cooperation between Malaysia and South Korea, and has been in constant contact with the Permanent Representative of the National Assembly Entertainment Technology Forum, Samseog Ko(Distinguished Professor, College of AI Convergence, Dongguk University, and former commissioner, Korea Communications Commission).

In his congratulatory remarks, Mr. Lee said, "I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to the National Assembly entertainment technology forum for the successful launch of the Forum and the first seminar, which is particularly timely given the current geopolitical situation."

"The establishment of the Forum marks an important milestone in promoting exchanges and cooperation between Korea and ASEAN, especially in the context of the artificial intelligence era," he said.

"The potential diplomatic benefits of such an initiative are enormous. In the current geopolitical environment, where technology and culture are playing an increasingly pivotal role, initiatives like this forum can serve as a bridge to foster mutual understanding, economic cooperation, and cultural exchange."

He explained that generative AI is impacting all industries, so it is essential to have a place to analyze and diagnose its impact. In particular, he noted the importance of collaboration between Korea and ASEAN countries for economic development in the AI field.

"The era of AI presents both challenges and opportunities. By focusing on entertainment and technology, this forum not only capitalizes on a vibrant and dynamic industry, but also addresses the broader impact of AI on society." "Growth in AI can drive economic development, create high-value jobs, and spur innovation. In addition, the emphasis on cultural exchange through entertainment technology can foster mutual understanding and cooperation to create a more harmonious and interconnected region."

Lee emphasized Malaysia's continued collaboration in the entertainment technology sector, especially as it hosts the ASEAN Summit in 2025. "Malaysia prioritizes high-value technology investment and job creation in all its policies," said Lee, "and this event's focus on AI entertainment technology is in line with our national strategy, providing opportunities for collaboration and shared growth.

"Personally, I believe the convergence of AI and entertainment technology holds tremendous promise. I can't wait to see the collaboration and innovation that will come out of this space, and I fully support and will be participating in this forum.  If we work together, I am confident that the Forum will not only achieve its goals but also set the benchmark for future collaborations." "As a representative of Malaysia, I look forward to contributing to the success of the Forum and witnessing the positive impact it will have on our region," added Mr. Lee.

Malaysia's strength lies in its diversity. It has Chinese, Indian and European influences and is known for being a multicultural, multiracial country.  "Malaysia is committed to harnessing these strengths as strategic assets rather than just strengths," said Lee, adding that the country will leverage this diversity to promote regional integration and cooperation, especially in the areas of technology and cultural exchange.

"The goals of this forum are in line with our vision of a progressive ASEAN where each member contributes and creates value for our common development," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, The seminar will be held from 14:00 to 17:00 pm. Starting with a greeting from Samseog Ko, Permanent Representative of the National Assembly Entertainment Technology Forum (Distinguished Professor, College of AI Convergence, Dongguk University, and former commissioner, Korea Communications Commission), congratulatory remarks from lawmakers from both parties are scheduled.

Part 1 will consist of the Keynote Speech. H.E. Songkane LUANGMUNINTHONE, Ambassador of Laos to Korea, Chair of the 2024 ASEAN Summit, will deliver a keynote speech on "Southeast Asia and the New Korean Wave." He will be followed by Indonesian novelist and content expert Sony Karsono, Professor of Malay-Indonesian Translation and Interpretation at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (winner of Indonesia's Literature of the Year Award), who will deliver a keynote speech on "Cultural Exchange between Korea and ASEAN."

In the second part of the program, strategies for ASEAN-Korea exchange and cooperation and technologies such as AI will be introduced. It is recognized that 'entertainment technology' is essential for the wider and deeper exchange of K contents such as K-dramas and music, as well as the transfer of ASEAN culture to Korea.

Mr. Samseog Ko, Permanent Representative of the National Assembly Entertainment Technology Forum, will deliver a keynote speech on the topic of "The New Wave of ASEAN-Korea Exchange and Cooperation Paradigm Shift".

Following the keynote speech, Mr. Jung Han, CEO of DirectMediaLab, will deliver a presentation on "The Future of ASEAN-Korea Entertainment Technology  Exchange and Cooperation in the AI Era."

Following the presentation, a general discussion will be held. The general discussion session will be moderated by Gilhwa Chung, former head of KOFICE, Jin Song, head of the Content Industry Policy Research Center at the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), Yoon-gil Jung, professor at Dongguk University and head of the Hallyu Center, Cho Sung-woo, head of CJ ENM's global business, and Kunhee Park, CEO of KOCOWA+, who will discuss the new paradigm of the Korean Wave and changing content exchange cooperation in the AI era.
