While Meta continues to capitalize on its share of social media services like Facebook to generate digital ad revenue, its Metaverse and AR/VR businesses, which it sees as the future of its business, continue to lose money.
Meta, the company behind Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, released its second-quarter 2024 results on July 31, reporting# revenue of $39.07 billion. Meta's quarterly revenue was up 22% on a year-over-year basis. Net income was $13.47 billion, or $5.16 per share. This was better than the $38.31 billion and $4.73 EPS that Wall Street (LSEG) originally expected.
