Consumers are increasingly watching movies, TV shows, and other video content in their cars. Streaming services and FAST (Free-Ad Supported Streaming TV) have also recognized the car as a new media platform and are stepping up their presence.

NewID, Asia's No.1 FAST platform, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Xperi Inc to supply FAST channels and AVOD content to the new infotainment system of BMW vehicles in 2023. Through this agreement, NewID has exclusively launched 14 FAST channels, 7 TV series and 30 movies on the new BMW 5 Series, the first car to be officially launched in Korea by BMW Korea.

In fact, a survey conducted by DTS, a subsidiary of entertainment technology company Xperi, found that nearly half of respondents were interested in having content-viewing screens in the front and back seats of their next car.

Interest in built-in screens and video entertainment services was particularly strong among luxury and ultra-luxury vehicle buyers. The analysis suggests that the presence of screens can play a role in increasing the added value of a vehicle.
