블랙 아이드 피스, AI와 라디오 방송을 진행하다(Black Eyed Peas hosts a radio show with AI)

In Hollywood, stories of "AI-induced layoffs," where generative AI takes over human jobs, are becoming commonplace. At the same time, however, there are new attempts to use AI as a creative or collaborative assistant.

At NAB, the world's largest broadcast and creator platform trade show, which ended in April, a human and AI humanoid (Ameca) delivered the opening speech. Now, a radio program co-hosted by a gen AI and a human has emerged.

The format is the same as a radio channel, but the hosts are humans and AI apps. The proliferation of AI is changing the creative scene.

American singer-songwriter-rapper and leader of the hip-hop and electronic group Black Eyed Peas, Will.i.am, recently announced that he will launch an AI-powered radio program in January 2025.  

Will.i.am. is passionate about IT and technology, having once worked as Intel's Director of Innovation.

More recently, he has been interested in building and investing in innovative technologies, including AI. Will.i.am has also invested in startups such as OpenAI, Runway, Anthropic, and Hugging Face.

미국 할리우드에서 생성AI가 인간의 일자리를 뺏어가는 ‘AI로 인한 정리해고’가 일반화되고 있다. 그러나 동시에 AI를 창작이나 협업의 조수로 사용하는 새로운 시도도 계속되고 있다.

지난 4월에 끝난 글로벌 최대 방송, 크리에이터 플랫폼 전시회 NAB에서도 개막연설을 인간과 AI휴머노이드(Ameca)가 맡아 화제가 됐다. 이제 생성AI와 인간이 공동 진행하는 라디오 프로그램이 등장했다. 형식은 라디오 채널과 같지만 진행자는 인간과 AI앱이다. AI가 확산되면서 창작 작업 현장이 바뀌고 있다.

미국 싱어송라이터 래퍼이자 힙합, 일렉트로닉 그룹 블랙 아이드 피스 리더 윌.아이.엠(Will.i.am)는 최근 AI 기반 라디오 프로그램을 2025년 1월 런칭한다고 밝혔다.  프로그램 런칭 발표는 지난 1월에 했지만 기술적인 문제점을 보완한 뒤 8월 22일 런칭 계획을 구체화했다.

윌. 아이. 엠은 한 때 인텔의 혁신 담당 이사로 근무 했을 정도로 IT와 테크놀로지에 관심이 많다. 최근에는 AI를 비롯한 혁신적 기술 구축과 투자에 관심이 많았다. 윌.아이.엠은 OpenAI, 런어웨이(Runway), 엔트로픽(Anthropic), 허깅 페이스(Hugging Face) 등의 스타트업에도 투자한 바 있다.
