뽀빠이가 빅스크린에 온다. 실사 영화 제작 추진(Popeye is coasting back to the big screen)

Popeye the Sailor, the icon of the strong man and pipe tobacco, first appeared in 1929. Elzie Crisler Segar introduced Popeye to the world on January 17, 1929.

The mighty sailor and spinach lover is coming to life in a live-action movie.

Chernin Entertainment and King Features have decided to bring the 100-year-old character Popeye to the big screen. According to Variety, the companies are developing the big-budget project as a feature film, with screenwriter Michael Caleo (Sexy Beast, The Family, The Sopranos) attached.

힘센 남자의 아이콘이자 파이프 담배로 상장되는 뽀빠이(Popeye the Sailor)가 처음 등장한 것은 1929년이다. 엘지 크리슬러 세가(Elzie Crisler Segar)는 1929년 1월 17일 뽀빠이를 세상에 데뷔시켰다.

파워풀한 선원이자 시금치 애호가 뽀빠이가 실사 영화로 다시 태어난다.

체닌 엔터테인먼트와 킹 피처스(Chernin Entertainment)와 킹 피처스(King Features)는 100년 캐릭터 뽀빠이를 영화화하기로 결정했다. 버라이어티에  따르면 양사는 대형 예산 프로젝트로  대작 장편 영화로 개발 중이며 시나리오 작가 마이클 칼레오(Michael Caleo, Sexy Beast, The Family, The Sopranos)가 참여하고 있다.

뽀빠이 캐릭터가 실사 영화로 만들어지는 것은 이번이 두번째다. 로빈 윌리엄스(Robin Willians)가 주연한 1980년 영화 '뽀빠이(Popeye)' 이후 40년 만에 스크린에 뽀빠이가 다시 등장할 전망이다.
