NAB, the world's largest broadcast, media and entertainment platform trade show, kicks off April 13 at the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) in Las Vegas, Nevada, US.
In addition to workshops, seminars, and conferences, the show floor will be open from April 14-17 to showcase broadcast equipment companies, services, and platforms. The floor is divided into three parts: Create, Connect and Monetize. This year's main themes are AI, virtual production, and streaming (FAST), as the latest trends in the broadcast media industry are discussed.
As a global event, attendees come from all over the world to Las Vegas. According to NAB organizers, 155 countries will be represented at the NAB2024 show, including 10 national delegations from Korea, Europe, Oceania, the Middle East and more.
"The NAB Show, taking place April 13-17 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, has firmly established itself as a global destination for the broadcast, media and entertainment industries, bringing together dignitaries and delegates from six continents to discover cutting-edge technologies, forge strategic partnerships and shape the future of content creation," said NAB.

The global broadcast market is rapidly expanding into streaming services, live events, movie stories, esports and gaming. Gaming revenues, in particular, are growing rapidly. According to PWC, the gaming market is expected to grow from $227 billion in 2023 to $312 billion in 2027. Ad revenue alone is expected to nearly double to $100 billion in 2025. (PWC). And the market for non-English-language content is huge. South Korea, Germany, and India are emerging as the new big three, with rapidly increasing investment in content for streaming services.
This year, more government officials than ever are visiting the show. This is to keep abreast of rapidly changing broadcasting trends and to understand new promotion and regulatory policies. Officials from the ministries of communications, information, culture, arts, broadcasting, and media, as well as national telecommunications and broadcasting commissions, chambers of commerce, and parliaments from South Korea, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, Costa Rica, Indonesia, Kenya, Kuwait, Japan, Mongolia, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates, among others, will be in Las Vegas to learn about the evolving broadcasting trends and explore promotional and regulatory policies.
Korea ETRI will also showcase its core domestic technologies for next-generation broadcasting and media utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) at NAB. The technologies on display are ▲ automatic metadata generation and video search technology ▲ shot prediction and virtual shot generation technology ▲ ATSC (North America Telecommunications Standards Organization) 3.0 disaster information media service platform for the hearing and visual impaired ▲ ATSC 3.0-based tactile stereoscopic media service technology. ETRI is currently promoting international standards for the technology and securing the source technology for AI content generation.
